Indication
- Congestive heart failure
- Liver cirrhosis, with collection of fluid in the abdominal cavity (ascites)
- Essential hypertension
- Swelling due to excess fluid retention (edema)
- Overproduction of aldosterone (hyperaldosteronism).
Dosage & Administration
1-4 tablet daily (50 to 200 mg of Spironolactone and 20 to 80 mg of Furosemide) according to the patient's response.
Precautions
It is recommended that individuals taking this medicine have their fluid and salt (electrolyte) balance monitored regularly. The combination of Spironolactone and Furosemide should be used with caution in diabetes, enlarged prostate (prostatic hypertrophy), hypotension, low volume of circulating blood (hypovolemia). Use in pregnancy: The combination should be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential fetal risk. Use in lactation: The combination passes into breast milk. It should not be used by nursing mothers. If its use is considered necessary, breast-feeding should be stopped.
