Indication

Cartibon tablet is indicated for the treatment of Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Bone & Joint injuries.


Dosage & Administration

Adults and children aged 12 years and older: 1 tablet twice daily (12 hourly) taken with food. In case of patients with Creatinine Clearance(CrCl) less than 30 ml/min, the dose of Diacerein to be reduced. No data regarding pediatric and neonatal dosage details is
available.


Precautions

Caution should be practiced when administering Cartibon tablet in those patients who are allergic to Glucosamine and/or Diacerein or to shellfish (e.g., shrimp, crab); who have diabetes, asthma, alcohol dependence or liver disease. Before taking Cartibon tablet complete blood count, liver function and urinalysis should be monitored regularly. When Diacerein is taken with food, there is an increase (about 24%) in its absorption; on the other hand severe nutritional deficiencies decrease the bioavailability of Diacerein. The intake of Diacerein in a fasting state or after very small amounts of food could causes an increased incidence of collateral effects.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
Diacerein is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Glucosamine should not be taken by pregnant women and nursing mothers due to lack of scientific data regarding its effect on fetus and infants.
